人としての一番の苦しみは孤独であるという言葉を哲人たちが残しています。いくらお金持ちでも一人では寂しいでしょう。一人でいるのが好き、という人も多くいますが一人きりでは食事にもありつけません。材料を作ってくれる人、植物、動物、魚介類等の食材を提供してくれる存在、売ってくれる人、調理する人等、シンプルな朝食を頂くだけでもどれ程多くの人、生き物のお世話になっているかわかりません。

Some philosophers left messages that the hardest suffering is loneliness, being isolated from others. Even millionaires may feel loneliness if they are to live on their own. Many people express they prefer to be by themselves. But they cannot even eat a simple breakfast without other beings. We never know how many creatures are supporting us even for having breakfast, such as people who produce foodstuff, animals, fishes, plants, sellers, and cooks, etc.

こうした相互依存関係も広い意味での交わりと捉えることができると思います。いのちの交わりとも言えるでしょうか。

I think this kind of interdependent relations could be recognized as an interaction in a broader sense. We may call it an interaction of life itself.

一方では断交という言葉そのものに象徴される交わりを絶つ行為も存在します。国と国とが断交すればそれは国交断絶の状態になります。人と人の場合は絶交状態になります。本来、この世の中のすべての存在は相互依存であり、孤立しては存在できないという事実から見れば、そもそも交わりを絶ち、孤立することは存在の存続を否定することに繋がります。

On the other hand, there exists a deed which stops interaction symbolized by the word of dismissal.   If communications terminate between nations, they fall into the situation of no diplomatic relations. In the case of human relations, it will be no human relationship. From the viewpoint that every existence in the world cannot exist or survive on its own as everything is in interdependency, being isolated by stopping any interaction may lead to the denial of the survival of all existence.

日本の場合でも完全ではありませんが鎖国時代がある程度の期間は続いたものの、日本の存続のためには他国との交わりを選択せざるを得ませんでした。明後日、2018年、6月12日、米朝首脳会談が開催される運びとなりました。長い間の断交状態から国と国との交わり、すなわち国交が始まる糸口になるかもしれないという東アジアのみでなく世界全体にとって、歴史的な希望の日となる可能性が高まっています。

In case of Japan, the duration of no diplomatic relation with foreign countries continued for a certain period, although it was not perfect, Japan had no option other than selecting to open interactions with foreign countries. On the 12th of June, 2018, the US-North Korea Summit Meeting will be held in Singapore. The possibility is becoming very high that tomorrow will become a very historic day of “Hope” not only for East Asia but for the entire world by breaking the long time no diplomatic relation into a new step of opening a gate with other countries

個人でも国家でも、たとえ主義信条が異なっていても、元をたどれば今、地球に生きている75億人の人類はホモサピエンスという同じ人類家族なのです。家族は本来交わりあって、支え合って生きる存在です。家族同士が仲良くするために圧力という名の脅しをかけたり、武力でおとなしくさせるというようなリスクを背負うべきではない、という本来の交わりの生き方に戻る大切な日になります。

Regardless of the differences in thoughts and political ideologies among individuals or nations, we 7.5 billion human beings now live on the globe are all originally homo sapience species. Family members shall live together through interacting and supporting each other. Tomorrow will be a significant day we return to an original way of interacting living, not taking risks of intimidating each other by the name of pressure for making good family nor oppressing opponents employing military power.

心から明日の交わりが末永い交わりの第一歩となることを祈ると同時に、私自身も優しい、温かな交わりを実践していこうと思います。

While praying sincerely that tomorrow’s interaction may be a new step of an everlasting interaction, I would like to do my utmost to practice a generous and mindful interaction with people around me.
