A lifelong Challenger / 生涯挑戦者

Yesterday, I wrote about ambition. Today, it might have influenced me, the word of lifelong challenger come to my mind. Building up peace seems almost impossible when I look around the reality of our world. Unfortunately, conflict, the threat of nuclear weapons, extreme violence, etc. are prevailing in the world.

昨日は大志についてお話ししました。その影響でしょうか、今朝は生涯挑戦者という言葉が思い浮かびました。今の世界を見渡しますと平和を築き上げることはほとんど不可能のようにさえ思えます。残念なことに紛争、核兵器の脅威、極端な暴力等が世界に蔓延しています。

Therefore, realizing peace on earth and in our heart is ambitious. To pursue this common good, we need to make a lifelong effort. The lifelong struggle requires us to be a permanent challenger. This is my logic.

ですから地上の平和、内なる平和を打ち立てることは大きな志になります。この共通の善を追求し続けるためには私たちは生涯挑戦者になる必要があります。これが私のロジックです。

I need to encourage myself often in this way, as I am inclined to give up easily. When I feel tired of practicing Buddha’s compassion and love for others, I talk to myself that I am a lifelong challenger, and shall never give up! Then, I could somehow redirect myself to follow the path to Buddha.

私はすぐにあきらめる傾向がありますので時々こうして自分を励ます必要があるのです。人さまに対する仏さまの慈悲や愛を実践することに疲れを感じた時、自分に対して私は生涯挑戦者、決してあきらめないと言い聞かせます。そうしますと仏道を歩む方向になんとか再び向きを変えることができるのです。

Peace on earth and in my inner world is the ultimate goal for me. Although it will go a long way, I will not lose sight of myself on my way to that goal as long as I have fellow followers to God and Buddha.

地上の平和と内なる平和が私にとっての最終的なゴールです。道は長く険しいですが、神仏の道を歩む仲間がいる限り、道半ばで自分を見失うことはないと思っています。

At present, we are facing various crises in Asia, which include the occurrence of new refugees, the crisis of nuclear weapons, pervading violence and invasion of human rights, etc. However, if we continue tackling what we humans should do sincerely and diligently hand in hand with the spirit of the lifelong challenger, we will surely lead humankind to a better direction, I think.

現在、アジアでも様々な厳しい危機的状況が発生しています。新たな難民の発生、核兵器の危機、暴力行為の蔓延、人権の侵害等です。しかし、私たちが生涯挑戦者の意気込みで人間としてなすべきことに力を合わせて真摯に取り組み続ければ、きっと良き方向に人類の向きを変えることができると思うのです。

I believe this is one of the missions ACRP is entrusted with by God and Buddha.

それが神仏からACRPが託された使命であると信じています。
