What I am now most committing my time, and body/mind to in parallel with my full-time work is benefits for the future generations. Particularly, it is a theme of how I can contribute to the security of our children and descendants in the future.
現在、私が仕事と並行して最も心身と時間を傾注しているのが将来世代の益、つまり未来益です。とりわけ、私たちの子供、子孫の安全にいかに貢献できるか、というテーマです。
The present world is filled with so many challenges which are well expressed in the critical issues to be tackled in the Sustainable Development Goals. My most serious concern is for the energy issues. I deepened my concerns about the Atomic Power Plant, particularly after experiencing the Fukushima PP incident in 2011. The fact that I am from Fukushima prefecture might have affected my thoughts in some ways.
現代世界は、持続可能な開発目標で取り上げられている重大な課題によく表現されているように、実に多くの課題を抱えています。私が最も大きな関心を抱いているのはエネルギー問題です。特に2011年に発生した福島原発事故を経験して以来、私の関心は急速に深まりました。私自身が福島出身であることも多少影響しているのかもしれません。
There are pros and cons of the Nuclear Power Plant in the world. It produces both a great benefit and risk for humanity. Therefore, I have been researching the ideas and opinions on both sides for the past several years. Both sides insist on their righteousness in their opinions and are hard to have discussions and dialogues with each other.
原発に関しては世界中に賛否両論が存在します。人類に多大な利益とリスクの両方を与えます。それ故、私は過去数年間、両者の考えや意見を調査、研究してきました。両者ともそれぞれの意見の正当性を主張し、互いに議論や対話を持つことが難しい状況にあります。
On the other hand, renewable energy has been attracting a wide range of attention in the world. Although I am not in a position of expressing pro or anti regarding the Atomic Power Plant, I can say clearly that we people of the current generation need to consider seriously the future of Atomic energy and renewable energy for the security of our future generations.
一方で、世界では広く再生可能エネルギーが注目を集めつつあります。私は原発に関する賛否を表明する立場にはありませんが、私たち現在世代に生きる人間は将来世代の安全のために、原発や再生可能エネルギーの将来を真剣に考えていく必要があるのです。
I am appealing for the importance of discussion and dialogue between both sides in my research output. Although it may not generate any or much effect, I will continue to do this kind of steady work without giving up. Because I believe it’s my mission to leave a secured world for our coming generations, and I am one of the people who believe in the genuine power of dialogue.
私は研究論文の中で両者が議論と対話を持つことの重要性を訴えています。大きな影響はないかもしれませんが、私はこうした地道な作業をあきらめることなく続けて参ります。なぜなら来るべき世代に安全な世界を残すのが私の使命であると信じており、対話の真の力を信ずる者の一人であるからです。
At any rate, we the present generation shall live not only for ourselves but also for our coming generations.
いずれにせよ、現在世代は自分たちのためにだけでなく、将来世代のために生きなければならないのです。
