Mediator /仲介者

What can a mediator do for people who are conflicting with each other?

対立している人々の間で仲介者は何ができるでしょうか？

I pondered the possible actions I can take.

自分にできると思うことを考えて見ました。

-to meet each group, and try to understand their thoughts and ideas by mindful and incentive listening

-それぞれのグループと会い、心から集中して耳を傾け、彼らの考えや主張を理解しようと努める

-to build a friendly relationship between the mediator and the group

-仲介者とグループ間の友情を構築する

-to deepen mutual trust between the mediator and the group

-仲介者とグループ間の信頼関係を深める

-to repeat the above mentioned actions until the intermediator thinks the purpose is achieved to a degree.

-仲介者がある程度まで目標が達成できたと思えるまで、これらの行動を繰り返す

-to provide a platform of dialogue between both groups

-両グループ間の対話の場を設定する

-to repeat dialogue until both groups nurture the mutual trust

-両グループが相互信頼を育むまで対話を繰り返す

If a mediation is to succeed in realizing this flow of actions, I believe he or she needs to do it with the following spirits and practices:

仲介者がこれらの行動を現実化しようとするのであれはか、以下の精神と実践が必要なのではないでしょうか。

-being patient

-being open-minded

-being a mindful listener

-being compassionate

-being respectful

-忍耐強いこと

-心を開くこと

-傾聴者に徹すること

-相手を慈しむこと

-尊敬の念を持つこと

I think I shall start practicing even one of these actions in my mediating work.

私が事務総長として仲介者の役割を果たしていく上ではたとえ一つの行動からでも始めていくことが大切であると考えています。

Religions for peace require us people of religion and faith to follow the chain of actions shown here to fulfill our shared mission.

平和のための宗教は、私たち宗教者がその使命を果たすために、このような行動をとっていくことを求めるのです。

The harder the job is, the greater the joy becomes in our daily efforts, I believe.

難しい仕事であればあるほど、毎日、努力をし続ける中に、より大きな喜びを味わうことができるのではないかと信じています。
