My hometown / 私の故郷

I often travel abroad for inter-faith dialogue and interaction program.  At least once every month.  I could not foresee this kind of frequent overseas mission.

私は宗教間対話・交流プログラムでしばしば海外渡航をします。毎月最低1回の割合になります。海外出張がこれほど多くなる人生は自分でも予測できませんでした。

Particularly, frequency has become higher since five years ago. The main reason behind it is due to the increasing opportunities of President-designate of Rissho Kosei-kai, Rev. Niwano’s participation in some key programs in the field of inter-faith dialogue and interaction. She holds some essential positions such as Co-moderator of Religions for Peace, Board member of KAICIID, Board member of the New Federation of Religious Organization of Japan, etc. I have been/am a chief attendant to her overseas mission. Besides, I became a Secretary General of RfP Asia in Last May. My primary field of activities has moved outside of Japan.

特に、5年前から海外渡航の頻度が増えました。その主な理由は立正佼成会の庭野次代会長が宗教間対話・交流分野での重要なプログラムに参加する機会が増えたことにあります。庭野師は世界宗教者平和会議共同議長、KAICIID　アブドゥッラー国王宗教間・文化間対話国際センター理事、新日本宗教団体連合会理事などの要職を務めています。私は首席随行の役割を担うからです。併せて私は本年5月からはRfP Asiaの事務総長に就任し、メインフィールドが国外に移動しました。

Recently, I started to feel that I am now on a mission in Japan. It may sound an exaggeration, but it’s my sincere feeling. By this interpretation, I do not feel that I have to go to another overseas mission. Thus, my trip is now a central part of my daily life.

最近では私は今日本に出張に来ていると感じ始めるようになりました。大げさに感じられるかもしれませんが、正直な気持ちです。こう思うようになりますと、また海外出張に行かなければならないと感じることはなくなりました。今では私の旅は日常生活の枢要な一部となっています。

For example, I will make one overnight trip to Taipei tomorrow and one week trip to Indonesia in the last week of this month. The purpose of these trips is for inter-faith dialogue and interaction.　The theme at Taipei dialogue meeting is ” Violence”.  In Indonesia, we will discuss with religious leaders and youth on various peace-related issues.

例えば明日は台北に一泊二日の出張に行き、今月の最後の週はインドネシアに一週間出張します。すべて宗教間対話や交流が目的です。台北の会議のテーマは暴力、インドネシアでは様々な宗教指導者や青年たちと平和に関する話し合いを行います。

It means people of faith and religion are desperately implementing and developing dialogue under various important themes in many parts of the world. In the present world, only one aspect that religions are fueling violence or misused in the world is being spotlighted. However, the effort of strengthening solidarity among religions is being made seriously as to how religions could control and stop violence, and build up the peaceful world through inter-faith dialogue and cooperation.

宗教や信仰を持つ人々が世界各地で様々な重要なテーマの下に必死で対話を実施し、展開していることを物語っています。世界では宗教が暴力を助長しているとか、悪用されているという面のみがスポットライトを浴びていますが、実はいかにして宗教は暴力を抑え、宗教間対話・協力による平和を築いていくか、その連帯を図るための努力も必死で行われているのです。

The hometown of humanity is one common globe. I am just traveling around various parts of my hometown. My hometown is “Earth”.

人類の故郷はこの地球です。私は故郷のあちらこちらを旅してまわっているだけです。私の故郷は地球です。
