I visited Austria and China last month. I am attending the first interaction program between Chinese and Japanese religious leaders organized jointly by the China Committee on Religion and Peace (CCRP) and Religions for Peace Japan.

先月オーストリアと中国を訪問しました。中国では中国宗教者平和会議(CCRP)とWCRP日本委員会の合同事業である中国宗教指導者と日本宗教指導者の第一回交流プログラムに参加しました。

The purpose of this program is to enable Religions for Peace Japan and China Committee on Religion and Peace(CCRP) to deepen mutual understanding and friendship, thus to promote collaborative relationship for building peace in East Asia.

本プログラムの目的はWCRP日本委員会と中国宗教者平和委員会が相互理解と友好を深め、東アジアの平和構築に向けて協力関係を促進することにありました。

We visited Konmei and Reiko of Yunnan Province and Beijing city in China. At each place, we had a very intensive and meaningful dialogue and interaction program with religious and political leaders.

私たちは雲南省の昆明と麗江、そして北京を訪れました。それぞれの場所で宗教指導者、政治指導者の方々ととても充実した意義深い対話と交流を持つことができました。

I want to share with you the most impressive experience and messages I received during this program.

今回の交流プログラムの中で最も印象に残った経験とメッセージをお分けしたいと思います。

・I was very much moved by the sincere dedication of secretary generals and staff members of both CCRP and RfP Japan to the success of this program. Their unlimited welcome, generosity and loving kindness indeed demonstrated a model of how secretary general and staff members should be for serving their organizations.

・それぞれの事務局長並びに事務局員の皆さまの献身的な働きには心から感動いたしました。無制限の歓迎、心遣い、思い遣りに感激すると同時に、事務総長、事務局員としていかに組織に奉仕すべきかの良きモデルを示してくださいました。

・Some top leaders of Japanese, religious circle attended this program. Thanks to them, we could meet and have a dialogue with senior leaders of the Chinese religious and political world. We could have an in-depth dialogue with them.

・日本の宗教のトップ使節団のお陰様で中国のトップ宗教者、政治指導者との出会い、対話が持てたことは大変ありがたいことでした。対話の内容も非常に深いものでした。

・Deeply remained still in my heart is one of the ancient Chinese phrases saying “interaction and relationship between countries starts with friendship among people”, shared by one of the Chinese leaders. In the context of diplomatic relations among nations, the friendliness among religious people who represent countries could play a critical role, I believe.

・中国の指導者のお言葉で、国の交わりは民の親しみから始まるという中国の故事が心に深く残っています。国同士の関係において、民の象徴である宗教者の親しみが果たす役割は大変大きいと考えます。

・As Secretary General of ACRP, I will do my utmost for realizing peace in Asia and world, with courage, compassion, and never forgetting sincerity.

・ACRP事務総長としては、これからも勇気を持って、本気で、そして真心を忘れずにアジア、ひいては世界の平和のために邁進して行きたいと思います。
