What is the role of religion?

宗教の役割とはなんでしょうか？

Is it for the internal peace and salvation within oneself?

自己の内なる平和と救いでしょうか？

Is it for the universal salvation for humanity?

人類の普遍的な救いでしょうか？

Is it for spiritual stability?

心の安寧でしょうか？

Is it for world peace?

世界平和でしょうか？

Is it for the elimination of poverty, violence, discrimination, oppression, injustice, inequity, etc.?

貧困、暴力、差別、抑圧、不正義、不平等をなくすことでしょうか？

Is it for human security?

人々の安全でしょうか？

Is it the cause for the division of humanity?

人類の分断の原因でしょうか？

Is it the cause for the discrimination?

差別の原因でしょうか？

Is it the cause of war and conflict?

戦争や紛争の原因でしょうか？

Each person may have a different answer.

人はそれぞれ違う答えを持っているかもしれません。

ACRP stands for the Asian Conference of Religions for Peace.

ACRPは平和のためのアジア諸宗教会議を意味します。

Humanity doesn’t need religions for division, discrimination, disrespect, indignity, oppression, inequity, violence, insecurity, conflict, war.

人類は分断、差別、軽蔑、非尊厳、抑圧、不平等、暴力、不安、紛争、戦争のための宗教を必要としません。

Humanity needs religions for unity, respect, dignity, empowerment, equity, freedom, nonviolence, security, harmony, coexistence, peace.

人類は一致、尊敬、尊厳、エンパワーメント、暴動、自由、非暴力、安全、調和、共生、平和のための宗教を必要とするのです。

Religions stand for unconditional/unlimited love, mercy, compassion, empathy, sympathy.

宗教は、無条件・無制限の愛、慈愛、慈悲、共感、同情を意味します。

Humanity needs religions which play their genuine role entrusted by God and Buddha.

人類は神仏から委託された真の役割を果たす宗教を必要とします。

We people who have faith and follow our respective religions must try to play the genuine role of religion.

それぞれの信仰と宗教を信ずる私たちは、宗教が持つ真の役割を果たす努力をしていかなければなりません。

“Am I serious enough to live with this determination?” I need to ask myself this question regularly.

「私は本気でこの決意に生きる覚悟を持っているだろうか？」常に自分に問いかけていきたいと思います。
