Good evening Your Eminences, Excellencies, religious leaders, and all the distinguished guests, sisters and brothers from all quarters of our region.

アジアの宗教指導者の皆さま、ご来賓の皆さま、兄弟姉妹の皆さまに一言ご挨拶申し上げます。

As Secretary-General of Asian Conference of Religions for Peace, I cannot find any suitable word to express my genuine joy and profound appreciation to all of you for coming to attend this important Executive Committee meeting, here in the most exciting city of Osaka.

ACRPの事務総長として、この魅力あふれる大阪の地で開催されるACRP執行委員会にご参加頂き、皆さまに心より御礼申し上げます。この喜びと深い感謝の気持ちを言葉で表すことはできません。

We are also greatly honored to receive the words from Most Rev, Nichiko Niiwano, His Eminence Cardinal Manyo Maeda, Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin, and Most. Rev. Makoto Uematsu, whom we ACRP members respect wholeheartedly.

また、ただ今は、私どもACRPのメンバーが心から尊敬申し上げる庭野日鑛共同会長、前田万葉枢機卿、ディン・シャムスディン議長、植松誠理事長からお言葉を頂戴し、誠に光栄の至りでございます。

I highly value this EC meeting. Because I am confident that this EC will transform ACRP from dialogue based organization to well-balanced movement between dialogue and action, from talking and analyzing issues to addressing problems with concrete projects, and will further promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation under the RfP’s common motto of “Different Faiths, Common action.”

私はこの執行委員会は大変重要なものであるととらえています。なぜなら、この執行委員会は対話に基盤を置く組織から、対話と行動が調和する運動体へとACRPを変容させていくものであるからです。問題を語り、分析するのみでなく、具体的なプロジェクトを通して問題に取り組んでいく、そしてWCRPの「異なる宗教、共通の行動」というモットーの元で、宗教間対話と協力をさらに推し進めていく契機となるものと確信しているからです。

We people of ACRP and RfP as a whole are facing critical issues such as violence, extremism, discrimination, poverty, inequity, disparity, oppression, environmental degradation and so on.

私たちは現在、暴力、過激主義、差別、貧困、不平等、不公正、抑圧、環境破壊などの問題に直面しています。

We need to see the reality of our world seriously, by abandoning to see it someone else’s problem. No one can exist by isolating oneself from others. Their problems are my problem. Our issues are theirs, too. We are interconnected and interdependent.

それらの問題を他者の問題として観る見方を捨て、より真剣に私たちの世界を観る必要があります。誰も、他者から独立して存在することはできません。彼らの問題は私たちの問題であり、私たちの問題は彼らの問題です。私たちは密接に繋がり合い、依存し合っています。

Therefore, we people of faith and religion are gathering here in Osaka. We will not only discuss but pursue and practice the way to realize an inclusive and peaceful Asia.

ですから、信仰を持つ私たちはここ大阪に集っているのです。私たちは議論するのみでなく、受容し合い、平和なアジアを実現する道を求め、実践していくのです。

We listen to the voice of God and Buddha, and convey our voices to God and Buddha together during these days, for the harmonious living of all beings in our world.

私たちはこの集いを通し、神仏の声を聴き、そして私たちの声を神仏に届けるのです。この世界に調和的共生を実現していくために。

Let us consolidate our courage, wisdom, the power of spirituality, trust and friendship.

私たちの勇気と智慧、そしてスピリチュアリティー、信頼、友情の力を結集していこうではありませんか。
