Your holiness, Eminences, Excellencies, religious leaders, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. Good morning.

各界指導者、宗教指導者、ご来賓の皆さま、ご参集の皆さま、おはようございます。

The regional consultation meeting for the 10th World Assembly of Religions for Peace has successfully approached to the epilogue.

第10回RfP世界大会の地域準備大会も成功裏に幕を閉じようとしています。

First, on behalf of the Asian Conference of Religions for Peace, I would like to express my deepest gratitude, respect, and congratulations to you all.

アジア宗教者平和会議を代表し、全ての皆さまに深い感謝、尊敬、そして心からのお祝いを表したいと思います。

Thank you very much for the dedicated professional preparation of, and service to this historic consultation meeting.

この歴史的なコンサルテーション会合に対する皆さまの献身的かつプロフェッショナルなご準備とご奉仕に対しまして心より御礼申し上げます。

I have also received a lot of positive and compassionate energies from women of faith network, and youth network participants. I have observed their meetings and overwhelmed by their power and aspiration for peace and happiness of all. On behalf of the senior men, I will follow your best models. Thank you very much for your power and inspiration.

私は女性信仰者ネットワーク並びに青年ネットワークの参加者の皆さまから沢山のポジティブな、愛に溢れたエネルギーを受け取りました。彼らの会合をオブザーブ致しましたが、全ての人々の平和と幸福を希求するパワーと思いに圧倒されました。熟年男性を代表しまして皆さまのベストプラクティスを範として参ります。パワーとインスピレーションをありがとうございました。

My most profound appreciation also goes to our partner and supporter, the Government of Germany, and the Government of Myanmar. Religions for Peace Asia is truly honored to be one of the partners for this regional consultation.

パートナーでスポンサーでもあるドイツ政府、ミャンマー政府に対しても心からの感謝の意を表します。ありがとうございました。この地域会合のパートナーになれましたことはACRP にとってこの上ない名誉でございます。

The central theme and sub-themes genuinely reflect the issues of the present world. We have discussed and had deep insight into the critical theme and sub-themes. Let me share with you what I have learned by attending this meeting.

メインテーマとサブテーマは現代世界が抱える諸問題を如実に反映したものです。私たちはこれらの重要なテーマに関し、真摯に議論し、洞察を行いました。わたしが参加して学びましたことを皆さまと分かち合いたいと思います。

The central theme “Caring for our common future” truly encompasses profound thought and philosophy.

「慈しみの実践－共通の未来のために」というメインテーマは深遠な思想と哲学を包摂しています。

I understand the word “common” as “shared” or “collective as a group of humankind, not as an individual human being.” The same is true for “our”. In a broader sense, it means all forms of life which include humankind.

「共通の」という言葉は「分かち合われた」あるいは「一人の人間としてではなく、人類としての集団」として私は理解しています。「私たちの」も同様です。広い意味で、人類を含んだ全ての生命体を意味します。

“Care” has a comprehensive meaning. Love, compassion, mercy, generosity, being by the side, sympathy, helping, empathy, kindness, tenderness, worrying, concerning about, and so on.

「ケア」は包括的な意味を持ちます。愛、慈悲、慈愛、親切、寄り添い、同情、手助け、共感、優しさ、思い遣り、心配、関心、などです。

If I express in words my current understanding of the central theme, it becomes as follows:

メインテーマの私の理解を言葉で表すと次のようになります。

“All living beings including us human beings have a common destiny. For the common destiny, the future is shared, with no alternative. Therefore, each one of us should foster the mind and heart of compassion and love, and practice love, care, and concern for others in daily living. Caring is indispensable to make our important future the one in which we can live together by respecting and supporting each other’s life.”

「人類を含む全ての生命体は運命共同体である。共通の運命においては、未来は例外なく分かち合われるものである。したがって、我々一人一人は慈悲と愛の心を育み、毎日の生活で他者への愛、ケア、そして心配行を実践しなければならない。互いを尊重し、支え合いながら生きる大切な未来をつくる上で、ケアは必要不可欠である。」

Here exists a critical question.

“Who are we?”

“Are we friends in the same group, ethnicity, nationality or religion?”

“Are we people with different ethnicities, nationalities, religions, languages, and colors of skin?”

“Are we people who accept and respect otherness?”

大切な問いが浮かび上がります。

「私たちは何者なのでしょうか？」

「私たちは、同じグループ、民族、国籍、あるいは宗教の仲間なのでしょうか？」

「私たちは、異なる民族、国籍、宗教、言語、肌の色の人びとなのでしょうか？」

「私たちは、異質、他者性を受け入れ、尊重する人びとなのでしょうか？」

I am confident the countries where harmonious coexistence among human beings as well as between humans and nature, is being pursued and sustained based on respecting not only the diversities, but also the equal dignity of all living beings, raise the vital question as to who we are, and for whom we shall care in our common future.

多様性のみでなく、全ての命の平等な尊厳性の尊重に基づいて、人と人、人間と自然の間の調和的共生を求め、維持しようと努める国々は、私たちとは何者で、共通の未来において誰をケアすべきか、という重大な問いを投げかけていると確信します。

We shall follow the best practices in the world. For examples, the Germans’ caring for the Syrians, and so many inspiring examples and stories in the countries and regions shared by us all through this consultation. The new history is being created. It’s not an exaggeration at all.

世界の中の最善のモデルに倣う必要があるでしょう。例えばドイツのシリア人たちの受け入れもそうですし、この会合にて分かち合われた多くの国や地域におけるたくさんの心を打つ事例や物語です。新たな歴史の一頁がめくられようとしています。決して大袈裟ではありません。

For whom and how can we, can I care in our shared future? It’s not a unilateral action, but a reciprocal action. A person who cares for someone is also being cared for by that person.

誰のために、そしてどのように、私たちは、私は、一つの未来においてケアすることができるのでしょうか？それは一方的な行為ではなく、双方的な行為なのです。誰かをケアする人は、その人によってケアされているのです。

What I feel critical are the two missions, namely, the mission we humankind should fulfill, and the one I, as a person, should fulfill. I think the two missions, namely, “Our mission and My mission” shall be practiced as a unit.

私が特に大切だと思うことは、二つの使命、人類として私たちが果たすべき使命と、一人の人間として私が果たすべき使命です。つまり、「私たちの使命と私の使命」の二つを同時に果たしていくことです。

The 10th World Assembly will be a platform which provides us with an opportunity to concretize actions for our healthy common future by both a religious community and a person of faith.

第10回世界大会は、私たちに宗教組織並びに信仰者として健全な共通の未来のための行動を具現化するための良き機会を提供してくれるでしょう。

So far, many declarations and statements have been produced at various conferences. However, most nominatives being used are “religion”, and “we, religious leaders, or people”, and so forth.

これまで様々な大会や会合で多くの宣言文や声明文が発表されてきました。それらの中で使われる主語は殆どが「宗教」や「我々宗教指導者、宗教者」なのです。

I think an effort of using nominative such as “I, having a faith” will be required from now onward in addition to the collective nominatives. At the same time, actions in everyday living need to be encouraged more, on top of the activities on special occasions.

今後は、そうした集合的な主語に加え、「信仰を持つ私」などの主語が使われる努力がより求められてくるでしょう。同時に特定の機会のみでなく、日常における行動をとることが求められてくるでしょう。

In a word, we should think genuinely about not only what we should do, but also what I should do, and what I can do for others and the future.

一言で言えば、私たちは他者と未来のために何をなすべきか、のみでなく、私は他者と未来のために何をなすべきで、何ができるか、を真摯に考えていく必要があると思うのです。

I will do my utmost to live my life by always bearing in my mind and heart these questions.

いつも、これらの問いを心に刻みながら生きていく最善の努力をしたいと思います。

“For what am I living today?”

“How can I care for people in need?”

“How can I care for my neighbors who live far away from me in a difficult situation?”

“How can I care for those I don’t want to be with, or I cannot welcome?”

“Am I following the message of God, Buddha in my daily life?”

「私は何のために今日をいきているのだろうか？」

「助けを必要としている人びとを私はどのようにケアできるだろうか？」

「遠く離れたところで困難な状況で生きている隣人に私はどのようにケアできるだろうか？」

「一緒にいたくない人たち、歓迎できない人たちを私はどのようにケアできるだろうか？」

「毎日の生活の中で、私は神仏のメッセージに従っていきているだろうか？」

What I and we need most is concrete action with a genuine dedication, commitment, and passion to the common good, based on the equal dignity of all forms of life. Yes, the action plan is needed now!

私、そして私たちに最も必要なことは、全ての命の平等なる尊厳性に基づいて、共通の善のために真の献身と情熱を持って具体的な行動を起こしていくことです。今こそ、行動計画が必要なのです。

Yesterday, the courageous and crucial initiative was announced by both leaders of RfP Myanmar and RfP Bangladesh for the possible launch of a flagship project, namely, interaction and dialogue at the very grass root level for promoting coexistence.

昨日、ミャンマーとバングラデシュの双方の宗教指導者たちによって旗艦プロジェクトへの取り組み、というとても勇気に満ちた大切な発表が行われました。共生を推進するために草の根レベルでの対話と交流を開始するというものです。

I was touched and inspired by their determination, as well as other ongoing actions and projects shared by other national affiliates. RfP Asia, through close consultation with RfP International, considers how we can support these critical actions and projects.

彼らの決意に私の魂は揺さぶられました。その他の各国委員会が取り組んでいる具体的プロジェクトやアクションにも心が揺さぶられました。ACRP はRfP国際と緊密に連携しながらこれらの重要なアクションとプロジェクトをいかに支援していくかを検討していきたいと思います。

I want to reiterate my sincere appreciation and respect to you all for giving us a precious opportunity of launching our concrete actions in our daily living for the common good and happiness of all through addressing the issues articulated in the sub-themes.

今回は、サブテーマに示されている全ての課題への取り組みを通して共通の善と幸福を目指すこと、そのために日常の中で具体的なアクションを始めるという貴重な機会を頂きました。すべての皆さまに心からの感謝と敬意を改めて表したいと思います。

I may only have little power, but I am not powerless. And together we are powerful. Let us unite our power! We can change the world.

私は、微力ではありますが無力ではありません。そして私たちが一緒になれば、パワフルになるのです。私たちの力を結集しましょう。私たちは世界を変えることができるのです！

I am very proud of you, and I am very proud of us.

皆さまをとても誇りに思います。そして私たちをとても誇りに思います。
