The equal dignity of the essence of all lives / いのちの本質の平等なる尊厳性

The recognition of the equal dignity of the essence of all lives is vital in harmonious coexistence among all beings on the earth. As I repeatedly mention in this blog, the word “equal” is often missing in the context of the dignity of life.

いのちの本質の平等なる尊厳性を認識することはこの地上の生きとし生けるものが調和的に共生するうえで、とても重要です。このブログでも繰り返し述べていますように、「平等」という言葉がいのちの尊厳を語るときにしばしば抜けてしまっているのです。

The indiscriminative nature of life is also often ignored by us human beings. The two concepts of equal dignity and the indiscriminative quality of life is a synonym, I think.

人類は命の無差別性も往々にして無視しがちです。いのちの平等な尊厳性と無差別性という二つの概念は同義語であると私は考えます。

The oppressors and rulers often discriminate so many lives with different ethnicity, languages, the color of skins, religions, thoughts, and ideologies, etc.

抑圧者や支配者たちは自分たちと異なる民族性、言語、肌の色、宗教、思想、イデオロギー等を持つ人々を往々にして差別することがあります。

We tend to differentiate ourselves from others, which lacks the viewpoint of the above two values for life. We, people of faith, can imprint these two values in our subconscious through prayer, meditation, the practice of love and compassion.

私たちは命に対するこれら二つの価値感に基づく見方を欠き、自分たちと他者を分けてしまいがちです。信仰を持つ私たちは、祈り、瞑想、愛と慈悲の実践を通して、この二つの価値観を肌に染み込ませることができるのです。

I believe the harmonious coexistence world will enable each life to respect and support each other. It is the one we all endeavor to realize in the future.

調和的な共生世界は、それぞれのいのちが互いに尊重し合い、支え合うことを可能にすると信じます。私たちは、将来、そのような世界の実現を目指して努力していかなくてはなりません。
