The SG’s opening remarks at the secretariat meeting in Bangkok / バンコクでの拡大事務局会議、事務総長開会挨拶

I want to share with you my opening remarks for the enlarged secretariat meeting of Religions for Peace Asia, held at Bangkok on Jan.15th, 2019.

1月15日、バンコクで開催されたRfP Aisa拡大事務局会議での事務総長開会挨拶を紹介いたします。

Good morning everyone. Thank you very much for attending this RfP Asia, ACRP secretariat meeting at this critical time before the EC meeting in Osaka, and RfP World Assembly in Lindaw of Germany in August this year.  My sincere thanks go to the Thai Chapter of RfP Asia ACRP, Moderator, Deputy Moderator, Senior Advisor, all the Associate Secretary Generals, and supporting staff members.

皆さま、おはようございます。今年4月の大阪でのRfPアジア執行委員会、8月のドイツ、リンダウでのRfP 世界大会を目前に控えたこの大切な時期に開催される事務局拡大会議にご参集くださり、誠にありがとうございます。RfP アジア／ACRPタイ委員会、ACRP議長、副議長、シニアアドバイザー、事務総長補佐の皆さま、サポートスタッフの皆さまに心より御礼申し上げます。

Firstly, I would like to start this meeting with Buddhist prayer for the peace of Asia, and the world by chanting the devotion to the Dharma in my native language.

始めに、アジアと世界の平和のために、私の母国語で仏教の祈りをささげたいと思います。

I entirely devote myself to the wonderful Dharma.

素晴らしき妙法に全身全霊を捧げます。

May all sentient and non-sentient beings follow the path to ultimate happiness and peace, which is guided to us by God and Buddha.

願わくはこの功徳を以って遍く一切に及ぼし、我らと衆生と皆共に仏道を成ぜん

Our world truly needs authentic dialogue and cooperation to overcome and stop the vicious circle in the dichotomy between different values, ideologies, ethnicity groups, nations, religions, and cultures.

異なる価値観、イデオロギー、民族、国家、宗教、文化の間の二項対立の悪循環を断ち切り、乗り越えるために、世界は真の対話と協力を必要としています。

Religions are deeply rooted in these values and entities.  Therefore, we people of religions and faiths play a critical role in achieving our common goal to realize true peace and happiness of all beings, without any left out.

宗教はこれらの価値や実体に深く根付いています。一人の例外なく、一切の衆生の幸せと平和を実現するという共通のゴールのために、私たち宗教者は重大な役割を果たしていくのです。

We, RfP Asia, ACRP has been sincerely endeavoring to promote dialogue and cooperation among different faiths and religions for fulfilling the mission of religion entrusted by God and Buddha.

私たちRfPアジア/ACRPは、神仏から託された宗教の使命を果たすために異なる宗教間の対話と協力を懸命に推進してきました。

For this purpose, and for further fueling our efforts to this purpose, we are gathering here in Bangkok.  We have crucial issues to discuss and exchange our opinions in a very open and frank manner.  It is not an official decision-making meeting. So,  let us unite our knowledge, wisdom, and experience together these days, and generate a new energy for our common good.

この目的のために、そしてさらに努力を続けるために私たちはここバンコクに集いました。私たちは、目の前に山積する重要な議題を胸襟を開いて率直に議論し、意見を交換したいと思います。正式な議決をする場ではありません。ですから互いに持つ知識、智慧、そして経験を出し合い、共通の善のために新たなエネルギーを共に産み出していこうではありませんか。

I thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for your leadership, dedication, and contribution to the mission of RfP Asia.

RfPアジアの使命への皆様のリーダーシップ、挺身、そして貢献に対し、心より御礼申し上げます。

I am confident that we all make a significant contribution to the betterment of our world and a common, shared future, through our continuous inter-religious dialogue and concrete actions.

宗教間対話と具体的な行動を続けていくことによって世界と共通の未来をよりよくしていくことができる、私たちは大きな貢献ができる、そのことを私は深く信じています。
