World stream of Inter-Religious Dialogue / 宗教間対話の世界潮流

Nowadays, the dialogues between different religions are taking place in many parts of the world. It is indeed amazing.

最近は世界の全ての大陸で異なる宗教間の対話が行われています。本当に驚くばかりです。

The Middle East region is one of them. It means the Muslims are actively promoting inter-religious dialogue and cooperation.

中東地域もその一つです。ムスリムの人々は積極的に宗教間対話と協力を推進していることを意味します。

Why is it now? Is it because the name of religion so often used concerning the wars or conflicts? Is it because the religions contribute to the rise of battles or confrontations?

なぜ、今なのでしょうか？宗教の名が戦争や紛争に関連して度々使われるからでしょうか？あるいは宗教が現実に戦いや対立に貢献しているからでしょうか？

The answer seems different on which position we stand, either religious or non-religious.

私たちが宗教的、あるいは非宗教的立場のどちらに立つかによって答えは違ってくるように思います。

It is often argued among people of religion or faith that the cause of war or conflict is not the religion itself, but the people who believe and practice the religion. Because religions teach universal and shared love and compassion with diverse expressions.

宗教者や信仰を持つ人々の間でよく言われるのは、戦争や紛争の原因は宗教そのものではなく、宗教を信じ、実践する人々であるということです。なぜなら宗教は普遍的かつ共有の愛や慈悲を多様な表現で説くから、というものです。

We should pay enough attention to the notion of universal and common love. If the love is limited to certain people or group, or specific time of the past, present and future, it may create the division and conflict among humankind.

私たちは、この普遍的かつ共通の愛というものに十分な注意を払わなければなりません。もし、愛が特定の人々やグループ、過去、現在、未来の特定の時間のみに限られるものであるならば、愛は人類を分断し、紛争を発生させるものになるかもしれないのです。

The reason why the inter-religious dialogue is becoming the mainstream in the present world may exist in the awareness of the restoration of complete and unlimited love for the whole of humanity, I think.

なぜ、今、世界で宗教間対話が潮流になりつつあるのか、その理由は全人類に対する完全な、無制限の愛を再生することの気づきにあるのではないか、そのように私は思うのです。

Many religious people try to share and deepen this awareness with each other. 多くの宗教者が互いにこの気づきを分かち合い、深める試みをしています。
