コミュニケーションの質 / Quality of Communication

 これだけものすごい速さで世界が動いていると、当然コミュニケーションにもスピードが求められます。現在はメールやSNSの発展により、瞬時にしてコミュニケーションが成立し、情報やニュースが行き交います。確かにスピードはコミュニケーションにとっては欠かせない重要なファクターです。一分、一秒を争うコミュニケーションがグローバル化した競争社会には必要だからです。しかし、そこで見落とされてならないのが質なのではないでしょうか。

As the world is moving at a breakneck speed, communication is also being required very high speed. At present, communication is established at an instance through the development of email and SNS, etc., thereby information and news are being exchanged all over the world. Of course, speed is a requisite element for communication. Communication challenging one minute or one second is needed for the competing societies in the global community. However, what should not be dismissed is quality.

 何をコミュニケートするのか、そのメッセージは何か？この根本的な問いかけが軽視されるとコミュニケーションは思わぬ結果をもたらすのではないでしょうか。コミュニティーを構築するための意思疎通の手段がコミュニケーションであるととらえることもできます。コミュニティーとは共同体、さまざまな相違を持つ人々が共同して生きる組織や社会を意味するといってもよいでしょう。この意味からすれば共同体の構築や保全に益しない意思疎通は真のコミュニケーションとは言えないのかもしれません。

What should we communicate, and what is its message? If this fundamental question is disregarded, communication might bring about an unexpected outcome. We can recognize communication as a method of exchanging idea and thought to build a community. The community can be defined as an organization or society in which people with differences live together. In this context, it cannot be interpreted as accurate communication if the exchange of ideas and thoughts cannot benefit the building and preserving the community

 更に、大きく分けますと、コミュニケーションには音声媒体と文字媒体があります。読む・書く、と、聞く・話す、の意思疎通手段です。最近ではよくグローバルコミュニティーという言葉を目にし、耳にしますが、まさしく地球レベルで読む・書くが飛び交い、聞く・話すが行われているのです。地球共同体の構築を意識したコミュニケーションは地球的コミュニケーションと呼ぶことができるでしょうし、国家共同体の構築を意識したコミュニケーションは、国家的コミュニケーションと呼ぶことができるでしょう。これが民族共同体を目指すものであれば民族的コミュニケーションとなります。

In general, communication can be categorized into voice medium and text medium. They are reading/writing and speaking/listening. Recently, we often hear the word of a global community in which reading/writing and speaking/listening are being conducted at a worldwide level. We can call it a global communication which aims at building a global community, and a national communication aims at developing a national community. If it points at an ethnic community, it can be called an ethnic community.

 一宗教の共同体の構築を意識するコミュニケーションとは一宗教的コミュニケーションになるでしょう。これが異宗教共同体の構築を意識するコミュニケーションであれば、それは宗教間的コミュニケーションになるでしょう。

If the communication seeks to one religious community, it becomes a one-religious communication. If it aims at a different-religions community, it becomes an inter-faith communication.

 世界が真に多様性の受容と尊重に基づく世界共同体、地球共同体への成長を目指すのであれば、このような地球的コミュニケーション、宗教間的コミュニケーション、文明間・文化間的コミュニケーションという質が重要視されていかなければならないのではないでしょうか。単なる経済のグローバリゼーションに伴う地球経済的コミュニケーションや、一宗教的コミュニケーション、一国家的コミュニケーション、一民族的コミュニケーションの発展ばかりではなく、一から多様性を包摂するコミュニケーションへとその質を変容させていく努力が必要なのではないでしょうか。

If the world indeed aims at growing to be the world community or global community based on the authentic inclusion and respect of diversity, these qualities of universal, inter-faith, inter-civilizational and inter-cultural communications shall be highly respected and valued. Isn’t an effort to transform the quality from one to diversity-inclusive communication necessary, instead of pursuing the development of global economic communication by the economic globalization, a one-religious communication, a one-country communication, and a one-ethnic communication.

 ACRPの諸活動も実はこうしたコミュニケーションの質の変容を図る大切な運動であると信じています。
