奇跡のいのち / Miraculous life

かれこれ10年以上前になりますが私が日本の茨城県土浦で教会長を務めていたとき、詩を作りました。今日はそれをお分けしたいと思います。

More than ten years ago when I was a minister of Rissho Kosei-kai Buddhist church in Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan, I made a poem and please allow me to share with you today.

忙しい毎日を送っていますと、とても大切なことを忘れてしまいがちになります。そんな自分に言い聞かせるために作ったものです。

When I spend busy days, I tend to forget what seems most important in my everyday life. I made this poem to remind me of it.

A life of miracles《奇跡のいのち》

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

毎朝、目覚めたらいのちへの感謝を捧げよう

いのちを支えてくれているすべてのものに感謝を捧げよう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Every morning, when I wake up, let me give thanks to my life

Let me give thanks to everything that supports my life

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

見るもの、聞くもの、触れるものすべてに心から合掌しよう

無限のめぐり合わせの中で出会えたことを心から喜び、感謝しよう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Let me respect heartily all I see, all I hear, and all I encounter

Let me mindfully be pleased and appreciate that I meet everything in

infinite circulation of cause and chance

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

一粒の米、一滴の水の恵みに感謝し真心で頂戴しよう

あらゆるいのちのお陰さまで生かされている自分のいのちに気づいていこう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Let me appreciate the grace of one grain of rice, one drop of water and

humbly have it as part of my life

Let me  be aware of my life that is being given and sustained by all

other beings

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

道端に生きる木々や草花にも優しく語りかけていこう

鳥や虫や生き物たちの声も耳を澄まして聞いていこう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Let me talk tenderly to the trees and flowers living on the roadside

Let me listen carefully to the voices of birds, insects and living beings.

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

目の前の人を、目の前の出来事を大切にしていこう

誰と比べることもせずに大切ないのちを心を込めて使っていこう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Let me cherish the person in front of me, the happenings in front of me

Let me  use my precious life with all my heart without comparing it with

others’

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

いのちを授けてくださった神仏、ご先祖さまへの感謝を

毎日忘れずに捧げていこう

そして神仏が喜ばれるようにわがいのちを使っていこう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Let me offer my appreciation every day, without forgetting, to Buddha, God

and my ancestors for giving me this life

And let me use my life as Buddha and God are pleased

奇跡のいのちを授かったのだから

いのちある限り尽くすことができること

いのちある限り役に立つことができること

いのちある限り喜ばすことができること

いのちある限り伝えることができること

を

一日も一時も忘れずに生きていこう

Because I was given a life of miracles

Let me continue to live without forgetting even one day or one moment

that

I can serve as long as I live

I can be useful as long as I have my life

I can please others as long as my life is sustained

and

I can share and convey what is essential as long as I live
