被爆者の声 / Voice of the Atomic bomb victim

Yesterday, I attended the symposium with the theme of ”Peace, Denuclearization and the Future of Our Society: A Religious-Academic Dialogue” held at Sophia University in Tokyo.

昨日、私は東京の上智大学で開催された「平和、非核、人類文明の未来～宗教者・研究者による対話」に参加しました。

I listened to the testimony of an woman who survived the Atomic-Bomb. It was indeed a sorrowful and bitter testimony.

そこで一人の被爆女性の証言を聞きました。それはとても生々しい壮絶な被爆体験談でした。

She appealed to the audience that the testimony must be conveyed from one to another ceaselessly. This steady effort becomes a big wave, and will change our world to the one without nuclear weapons. She closed her testimony by saying that we should go forward with great courage.

彼女は聴衆に訴えました。人から人へいつかそれは伝わって大きな波になり、世界を変えることができる。核のない世界へと。だから勇気を持って歩んでいこうと。

We need to pass down to the coming generations the horror of nuclear weapons which destroy all beings.

私たちは全てを滅ぼす核兵器の恐ろしさを後世に伝えていかねばなりません。

I will never forget the shout of the old woman who devotes to the abolition of nuclear weapons.

核兵器の廃絶に人生を捧げる女性の叫びを、私は一生忘れません。

We came to vow that we will continue our humble efforts with genuine determination to eliminate nuclear weapons one day in the future for the common good of humanity.

私たちは、人類の共通善のために、いつか必ずこの世界から核兵器をなくすという本気の決意を持って努力し続けていくことを誓い合いました。
